Sunday morning. Worried

Weight 655gm. A 4% loss in 12 hours, mostly due to lots of poops and wees.

We are worried, more than we have been. It’s back to the vet tomorrow morning.

Fingers crossed…

  1. Hi,

I’ve been following Peanut as I too have a pig(Mo) with a similar problem. It has been going on for about 4 weeks now. We also visit Chrissie to have dentals, she is brilliant:-) We are syringe feeding cc 4 x a day and Mo’s weight today is 840g. Mo’s weight can drop overnight by 60g. Despite her weight loss she seems bright and is eager to eat. It takes her a long time to eat and she often exhibits the ‘I look like I’m eating glass’ face, as her mouth is still sore despite pain relief and local anaesthetic gel. I wish Peanut the best of luck at the vet tomorrow and I will continue to follow his progress. He is very lucky to have such caring people to look after him.
    Keep up the good work
    Zoe and Mo

  2. Hi Zoe, thanks SO much for the words of encouragement and for letting us know we’re not alone – of course we know we’re not, but it’s still nice to get proof!

Nutty has against him, his lightness, both natural (he is not a large pig) and right now, due to this process he is in. For him, he has a strong character and body and he seems ‘chippa’ – for the first time in a few weeks, he ‘Wheaked’ and climbed up to see what was on offer in the way of food etc a few times in the last 24hours.

Fingers crossed. So glad to hear Mo is gaining weight. We used the anaesthetic gel too – I am not sure if that was better, perhaps, than the cat (I think) anti-inflamatory (1/4 tab / day) we’ve been given by our vet. Continued good luck with Mo.

    Nutty’s Oompa Loompahs (Alan & Fran ).
